Macro Eyes

Photograph an eye from far enough away and it reads as expression. Move in close enough and it becomes something else entirely. Texture, pattern, colour, lashes, reflections, and the edge of the pupil begin to take over, and the familiar starts to feel more abstract. This gallery looks at the eye both as a subject and as a surface, with some images staying close to natural detail and others leaning more into mood and reflection. What makes this kind of close-up work so interesting is that the closer you get, the harder it becomes to see the eye as just one thing.
